COVID-19 Response at Vermont Mutual

Vermont Mutual recognizes that the current COVID-19 pandemic has placed many families throughout the country into a state of great uncertainty. As well, the financial impact of these unprecedented and uncertain times is widespread, impacting children, students, families, employees, small businesses and large corporations. While the government’s response has been significant, the amount of support that will ultimately be needed remains unknown. In an effort to assist those members of our community who are experiencing financial distress, Vermont Mutual has initiated the following actions:


Vermont Mutual will provide a payback equivalent to 20% of a customer's auto premium for 3 months due to reduced personal lines auto loss frequency resulting from the stay-at-home order.

The payback will be automatically applied, with no action or steps required by policyholders.


Vermont Mutual has completed the distribution of $1,000,000 to 45 Vermont nonprofit organizations to help with COVID-19 relief efforts. As the impact of COVID-19 on the Green Mountain state quickly became evident in early spring of 2020, Vermont Mutual responded with a declaration of one million dollars reserved specifically for COVID-19 relief efforts in Vermont. A significant portion was immediately distributed to the Vermont Foodbank and the Vermont Community Foundation. These two charitable institutions were chosen for their well-established infrastructures and their ability to quickly assist fellow Vermonters in need. In addition to these two organizations, grants were awarded to 43 other very worthy charitable organizations throughout Vermont. A full list of the recipients can be found at the link below:

Vermont Mutual understands that some of our policyholders are under financial stress due to the Stay-At-Home order. Please know that we are actively working with your Independent Insurance Agent to ensure that any policyholder who is experiencing financial difficulties at this time be allowed greater time and flexibility in making their payments.
